A Week in Bali - Day 1

Ubud
First up is Ubud. You cannot got to Bali and not go to Ubud. This is where you will experience the real Bali. Even after the book "Eat, Pray and Love" Ubud still remains unspoiled.
We stayed at The Sankara Ubud Resort and Spa. We spend three days here and used it as a base for the various places we went to.

These are photos of Sankara resort. The reception was just beautiful. We had a welcome cup of tea when we arrived. Breakfast is included in your reservation and the options are delectable. The restaurant in the resort has a beautiful view. They offer free yoga classes every morning, tours of the rice terrace in the resort and a wonderful spa. They have a free shuttle to the city and all you need to do is tell the reception where you want to go. They have various tours you can book with the hotel and the drivers were wonderful. A driver can make or break your trip in Bali. In short stay here!!!

Next up is the Monkey Forest in Ubud

Below is Ubud Palace. There wasn't much to see here but the detail in the wall is beautiful.

Next we went to the Rice Terraces, Tirta Empul, Goa Gajah and a gorgeous waterfall where we got to swim. Notice we changed clothes because it was so hot and humid. We walked from the Monkey Forest to the Ubud Palace and we were sweating like crazy. Ladies don't even bother with makeup.

Tegalalan Rice Terrace is beautiful.

Then we went to Tirta Empul where the locals go to worship and cleanse themselves. There were various purification ceremonies going on that day. The Balinese are very religious and I found this very inspiring. Notice how we had to wear sari's because this is holy ground.

Next up was Goa Gajah - The Elephant Cave. These are holy grounds as well and we had to wear Saris. They are so well maintained, just beautiful.

The last place we went to was Tegenungan waterfall and boy was it good to cool off. It is quite a trek to get to but it's so worth it.

I hope you come back for more information on our Bali trip as I blog on each day we spent in Bali. As always sending love your way.

Listening is loving...
