Rome In A Day - Part 1

Rome can be done in a day folks!! I'll tell you how.

We booked a tour with Walking Tours of Rome and got the best guide (Claudia) ever!!! They aren't cheap but if you are hard on time they are an efficient way of exploring Rome. We only had one day so we packed in a lot. We wanted to visit other places in Italy and getting more than two weeks off for vacation can be a problem.

If you don't do a tour I advice you to get tickets to the Colosseum way in advance to skip the huge lines (do not take this lightly buy your tickets early) as well as the Vatican go to website and click on Admission Tickets. I can't stress this enough buy your tickets in advance I wish I had a photo of how long the line was for the Vatican.

We started bright and early and low and behold there was a strike at the Colosseum and they would only open later in the day which foiled our plans. Our plan was to visit the Colosseum first and Vatican city in the afternoon. Our guide tried to change the Vatican tickets but it was impossible. So she decided to take us round Rome then the Vatican and then we would finish with the Colosseum which worked in our favor because the crowds were gone in the afternoon.

We started with the city and our guide gave us so much information. From the outside cinemas to the Pantheon to gelato shops. It was beautiful.

The Pantheon was one of my favorite places in Italy. I loved the originality, the thought that went into building it and the fact that it wasn't crowded because people under estimate it.

It was a hot day but the jacket would come in handy at St Peters Basilica and the Vatican later.

These pillars have been here since the beginning isn't that amazing!

The middle of the Pantheon has a circle that lets in light. This was how they told time depending on where the sun hit the floor or the walls of the Pantheon.
